hi, m done with my gdpi at welingkars 2day..
was a cool one..
GD: 1. india is a rich country of poor people.
2. public sector is vital for indias development.
we chose the 1st one.. were given 13 minutes and at the 13th minute, v gave the panel an expression tht v want 2 spk sumthng more!! so they gave us 1 extra minute (on the condition tht if point is repeated u wil b gvn negative marks!!) v agreed and spoke in tht one minute..
v were 8 ppl but juz 4 of us spoke throughout even whn the panel "REQUESTED" the others 2 spk..!!!
ws called at the PI room.. 2 men..
askd me 4 intro.. i have a degreee in HINDI so they askd me questions related 2 it.. thn they askd me abt IPO.. thn my extra currics.. grilled me on the significant event mentioned in the form..
and askd me wht i did durin the 1 yr break i tuk frm studies..
that was it..!!! welingkar is a very gud place .. they were very organised wth the process.. one of the MMS student showed us a presentation abt welingkar..!! juz hoping, i get tht opportunity next year!!!!!!!!!

GDPI @ JBIMS
Though the schedule was 8 to 8.45, it started at 8 30 or so. But we have to resch much before time. People were not allowed in even if they came before the GD started..
Group of eight people. Two girls and six boys. One girl in a blazer(later came tom know she had the same score-133). Only two guys with ties.
Topic 1: Donations in schools
Topic 2: Should women be allowed to work in call centres after 10 pm.
Five people had already chosen the first topic and were not ready to listen to arguements in favour of the second one.
One guy started. The topic given is........I think donations should be there because .......infrastructure. I cut him and said we should structure the GD in the form of causes, pros, cons and solutions for the same.
Other points....
Root cause is lack of educational infrastructure..90-94% drop out rate. 15-40%teacher absenteeism inspite of salary being three times private schools. Public school 8th grade equivalent to 4th grade in private.
Then again people went on to donations for infrastructure etc
I made a point regarding lack of infrastructure agin at public schools and one guy cut me saying that donations would solve that problem.
NOW I got the problem and desribed the fact that donations are of two types; voluntary and forced(attached to admission)
Even in the forced type people could be forced to pay even after admission(recent case in bombay school where fees were increased abruptly from aroud 15000 to 25000)
Then everybody talked about accountability anad transparency, the other guy said we could instead give donations to public schools, another girl agreed. Then I said the current approach to education is top down and when even IIT's cannot use the official donaons from alumni, how can primary schools?
Spoke about Sam Pitroda and the knowledge commision, 60,000 to 80,000 people going for foreign education. Foreign polytechnics being branded as universities and people from India paying 8 times local fees in India(the girl then commented:better pay donations in India!)
Finally solutions were all about increasing infrastructure(again), accountability,(I spoke about PPP, How god private teachers could be clubbed with govt infrastructure, solving donation problem as well as poor quality public educaion.
We were stopped here and everbody ws asked to give summation in 30 seconds. _________________ God is one |
