Body
P1 - F, late 40s | P2 - M, early 50s
P2: Introduce yourself.
Me: name, origins, recent work-ex...
got interrupted to clear a doubt about my graduation date and duration of work-ex,
explained the reason and talked about my work-ex as a marketer in detail for an AI start-up
P1: so tell me what is your stance on the status of media in the current situation
(I'm a mass comm. graduate)
Me: talked about press freedom index, problems with mainstream media not picking up issues of importance, and the poor status of factual reporting
P1: which body is responsible for press freedom index
Me: talked about reporters without borders
P1: who are the journalists in the above body, their nationality and if their ranking is up to the mark
Me: gave a vague answer, talked about press freedom across the globe
P1: asked about the recent deaths of journalists and how safe it is for indian journalists out there
Me: talked about gauri lankesh and a few other journalists slained by extremists
the conversation took a turn on the standards of journalism, got told that i could rather be a good journalist and that the country needs me... (made my day, honestlyย :P)
P1: so coming from a mass comm. background, why not be a journalist? how do you feel about the future of journalism in India
Me: the fact that I'm sitting here and half my fellow batchmates didn't pursue their careers in the field should tell you enough about the status of journalism
P1: so you're a marketer in an AI-startup? what do you do over there?
Me: explained my role and things I'm trying to achieve here with emphasis on my interests
P1: so what are the ways through which you can conduct a market research?
Me: talked about qualitative and quantitative research
Over to P2
P2: why MBA? not to take anything away but your articulation could help you become a great journalist
Me: talks about my interests about storytelling, technology and how these two arenas can be accentuated for a better impact if i could accrue skillsets in business domain. gave them a recent example of a myopic view i had which i need to upskill.
