Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi has shown considerable waitlist movements in its various MBA courses in the recent rounds of admissions. For the 2025โ27 batch, the general category waitlist for the MBA program shifted to around 1,200 candidates. Other categories too experienced considerable shifts: EWS (~150), NC-OBC (~600), SC (~350), ST (~160), and DAP-Gen (~18).
The MBA-HR program had even more significant waitlist movement. In the 2024โ26 cycle, the general category waitlist went up to approximately 2,165, with projections to go up to nearly 1,800 in the 2025โ27 cycle. The other categories had similar patterns: EWS (~150), NC-OBC (~700), SC (~400), and ST (~200).ย
These developments are driven by considerations like withdrawals of candidates, simultaneous admission offers from other organizations, and the institute's desire to maintain diversification between categories. The Common Admission Process (CAP) that IIM Ranchi is a part of also contributes to these forces.ย
For waitlist candidates, it is important to keep track of news from IIM Ranchi and be proactive with regard to any message. The institute's past records of substantial waitlist movements suggest that one has to exercise patience and watchfulness to succeed in securing admission.
