CAT Preparation Strategy in 6 Months

Body

People keep telling me that I can't crack CAT. But I want to. Iโ€™ve been following some YouTube channels, but I need a clear, day-by-day preparation plan. Just tell me what to do, how many hours to study, what to focus on โ€” Iโ€™ll follow it.

Today, in this artcle, I want to tell everyone how students made it to IIM Ahmedabad, even those from modest backgrounds. Iโ€™ll share examples, strategies, and motivation โ€” even real conversion stories from students who made it.

Letโ€™s talk about who gets calls from IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and other top colleges.
Yes โ€” General, OBC, SC, ST โ€” people from all backgrounds make it. Iโ€™ve got a list of real students who prepared through CATKing and cracked it.

For example:

  • A non-engineer scored 99.97 percentile.

  • An NC-OBC candidate converted with 98.57%ile.

  • A fresher girl with 95%ile got calls too.

  • A dentist (Mayuri) cracked it.

  • Even candidates with 92%ile got calls with strong profiles.

  • A general engineer with 99.75%ile converted.

So don't let anyone tell you that "you canโ€™t do it."

If youโ€™re subscribed to this channel, if youโ€™re watching this with full attention โ€” you're not here to give up. Youโ€™re here to prove them wrong.

Just remember: Everything is tough until itโ€™s done.

  • First day of school was tough.

  • Class 10 board exams were tough.

  • Engineering first year felt confusing.
But once itโ€™s done, it all seems manageable.

So stop listening to people who sayย โ€œYou canโ€™t do it.โ€ Instead, listen to those who have already done it.

Talk to someone with IIM, SPJIMR, JBIMS next to their name. Theyโ€™ll tell you itโ€™s tough โ€” but absolutely possible.

Now, letโ€™s get to the PLAN:

There are 3 types of students:

College students (still in graduation)

You have the TIME. This is your golden period. If you canโ€™t find time now, trust me โ€” youโ€™ll never find it again. Start small, 2 hours daily, and gradually increase. Target 6 hours/day in the final 2 months.

Even if youโ€™re a fresher with 10th, 12th, and graduation marks that aren't great โ€” just study smart. Letย IIMs reject you, but donโ€™t reject yourself.

Working professionals

Your time is limited. You need a strict schedule. Try:

  • 1 hour in the morning,

  • 1 hour during lunch or evening.

Start with 2 hours/day and slowly increase to 4 hours/day. In the last 2 months, youโ€™ll need 6 hours/day โ€” yes, itโ€™s possible, even with work. I know someone who studied 6 hours daily for 6 months and cracked CAT.

Droppers / Gap year students

If you're taking a break from college, be ready to justify it during interviews. Say:
"I completed college and decided to fully focus on CAT for 6 months. Meanwhile, I also took online courses and upskilled."

ย Note: 30% of interviewers donโ€™t even ask about the gap year โ€” so donโ€™t panic. Focus on preparing 6 hours daily โ€” you have no excuse.

What to study day by day?

Coming up in the next post/video โ€” but here's a general structure:

Monday to Saturday:

  • 2 hours Quant

  • 2 hours Verbal Ability (RC + Vocab)

  • 1 hour DILR (start slow, itโ€™s tough)

  • 1 hour revision/practice/mock analysis

Sunday:

  • Full mock test (3 hours)

  • 3 hours mock analysis (extremely important)

Start with basics (Arithmetic, RC reading, easy DILR sets) and gradually move to medium and tough questions.

ย In short:
STRATEGY is mine. HARD WORK is yours. BLESSINGS will come.
Just donโ€™t give up. If they did it, YOU CAN TOO.

Stay tuned โ€” Iโ€™ll drop daily/weekly plans, topper stories, and mock test strategies.
Like, follow, and letโ€™s crack CAT together.
