I am from a non-engineering background too and just joined SIBM Pune this year. I’d be happy to guide you through how to tailor your prep to your strengths, especially if you’re targeting SNAP, NMAT, and XAT along with CAT. These exams are all slightly different, and psych grads often do really well in Verbal and Decision Making (XAT), so we can leverage that.

Hi there, I cracked CAT & NMAT last year and am currently at NMIMS. I didn't come from a psychology background, but I did start from scratch with quant and still made it, so you definitely can too.

  • Hey! I’m also from a psych background, currently at IIM Indore. First off, don’t worry, being a non-engineer or fresher isn’t a disadvantage if you plan your prep well. Happy to mentor you! I focused heavily on DI-LR and Quant from Day 1 because that was my weak area. Verbal was a strength thanks to my background. Also, remember to start giving mocks early even if your syllabus isn't complete, it builds stamina and exam temperament.

Hey! I have been mentoring students for a while now and would be happy to support you in your journey. Since you're a fresher, I’d suggest creating a strong profile through internships, certifications, and possibly volunteering, these help in interviews. On the prep side, focus on your weak areas, give mocks regularly, and journal your mistakes. You don’t need to be from a math-heavy background to crack CAT or other exams, you just need consistency.
