Hey! I got into KJ Somaiya with a CAT percentile of 91 and no work experience. My grad CGPA was 6.1 from a tier-3 college. What helped? A strong CAT score and good interview performance. Your 10th and 12th are impressive, especially for humanities. You can definitely aim for decent B-schools. Donโ€™t get sucked into CAT forums that only talk about IIM ABC, thereโ€™s a whole world of good colleges beyond that. Also, many B-schools now look for diversity, and your humanities + DU background might work for you in the right setting.

  • Bro same here. 10th - 88%, 12th - 95%, Graduation (BA Prog) - 6.3 CGPA. I was freaking out about my DU off-campus tag too. But after speaking with seniors, I realized most good colleges (not the IIM A/B/C types) are way more lenient if your CAT score is solid. Focus on scoring above 90 percentile. Even 85-90 can get you shortlist calls from colleges like Welingkar, Great Lakes, and BIM Trichy. Your profile is not disqualifying. Itโ€™s all about what you do now. CAT is the biggest lever youโ€™ve got, use it to the fullest.

  • Hereโ€™s my two cents, buddy. A low grad CGPA does close a few doors, especially for IIMs, but it doesnโ€™t lock you out of the MBA world. Plenty of good B-schools look beyond numbers. If you get 90โ€“95 percentile and can hold your own in interviews, you can target: NIBM Pune, IFMR, IMI Kolkata, LIBA, and even some new IIMs depending on their shortlisting process that year. Donโ€™t self-reject. Focus on one thing at a time, right now, thatโ€™s CAT prep. Your story matters too, not just your scorecard. Own your journey.

First of all, yes, you do stand a chance. I had a 6.0 GPA from an obscure private college, and still got calls from IMT Ghaziabad and IRMA. The key is to focus on whatโ€™s in your control now: your CAT prep. Donโ€™t obsess over your past scores, theyโ€™re already done. Many good institutes have holistic selection processes or donโ€™t even consider graduation marks too heavily. Colleges like IFMR, FORE, MICA (if youโ€™re creative), and even IITs (like Dhanbad and Roorkee) can be great options. Stay consistent and youโ€™ll be surprised how far you can go.

Hey! I totally get where youโ€™re coming from. I scored 91% in 12th (humanities) and had a CGPA of 6.5 from an off-campus DU college too. No work-ex, just vibes and anxiety. But hereโ€™s the truth, if you manage a 95+ percentile, a lot of colleges will still consider you. B-schools like TAPMI, KJ Somaiya, GIM, and XIME do not put extreme weightage on graduation scores. Your 10th and 12th are actually very solid. Donโ€™t let the stories demotivate you, most of those are just projections of fear. Yes, IIMs might be tough, but you definitely have a shot at good Tier-2 colleges if you kill it in CAT and the interviews.
