Profile: GEM, 95/86/68, 1.5 years work ex, 99.96%ile Interviewers: 2 males, 1 prof (M1) and 1 alum (M2)

M1: Tell me something about yourself. Me: Told about where I was brought up, college and branch, current company, and about my personal values (relates to why I want to do an MBA). ~30 seconds long.

M1: What got you into animal rights? Me: Told the story. ~1 minute long.

M1: Do you have pets? What's your opinion on having pets Me: No, I don't. I don't think we should have pets either. Talked about the ethics of it (welfarism versus rights). ~2 minutes long.

M1: What if a dog is injured? Me: I'm not against treating them or creating a sanctuary for them. I'm against having them as pets. Told why these are distinct issues. ~30 seconds long.

M2: So, you're an electrical engineer. Tell me what transformers are. Me: Transformers are used to.... <i actually couldn't recall it at all, so i stated i don't know>

M2: What's the difference between data mining and data science? Me: <didn't know the specifics of mining> Told mining is about extraction. Data science is applying techniques on data to gain insights. ~30 seconds long.

M2: Tell me the name of an algorithm you've used. Me: Linear regression.

M2: How's it different from logistic regression? Me: Told that y = a matrix times x in linear regression. We use the sigmoid function in logistic regression with formula. ~30 seconds long

M2: How do we choose dependent and independent variables? Me: Gave an example from the work I do. ~30 seconds long.

M2: What's your opinion on plant-based meats? Me: Told it can be a great option for those who find it difficult to switch because of taste. ~30 seconds long.

M2: Can you legally use the word meat in their packaging Me: (wasn't sure). Told I believe it's allowed, however, you can't use the word milk for plant-based milks. ~30 seconds long.

M2: Isn't the use of the word meat wrong though? Me: Told it's just a game of semantics. Since it resembles the texture and taste of meat, someone might come across it and give it a try. Calling it plant-based resolves any potential confusion with animal meat. I don't see an issue. ~1 minute long.

M1: How's <my company, automobile> doing globally? Me: Told it's facing tough competition in Europe due to carbon emission mandates in the EU. Also, we hadn't invested in R&D, so we're facing issues. Told what and why. ~3 minutes long.

M1: What's your opinion on EVs? Me: Told it's not clear EVs actually cause lower overall environmental impact. Conflicting studies. Lithium extraction causes significant pollution too. Also, we're currently dependent on coal for electricity generation. Not sure how that fares against the ICE vehicles. ~3 minutes long.

M1: What would you tell me if I wanted to buy an EV? Me: Same as above. I don't see a reason to advocate for one or the other. ~30 seconds long.

M1: How do you see the future of EVs and how long will it take for all cars to be electric? Me: Told I guess it'll take about half a decade. He then asked what about India. Took 30 seconds and told Indians are still frugal, and people aren't going to give up on their old ICE vehicles and get EVs for the sake of the planet. So it might take more time. ~1 minute long

M2: What problems do you see in the adoption of EVs except the higher cost of EVs? Me: None. He quickly asked if charging stations are going to be an issue. I agreed.

M2: Suppose you were to build charging stations. What would be your plan? Me: <took 30 seconds> Told I'm going to invest for stations firstly in the "posh" areas, and then in "normal" areas. He asked why, I told it's my assumption that the density would be higher there. Since we're limited on budget, it makes sense to build one in a higher EV density area <i didn't explain what i meant by posh and normal>. Didn't let me complete, probably asked a question and it ended. ~2 minutes long

M1: What other calls do you have? Me: Told.

Converted.
