Peer Groups vs Solo Prep – Which Works Better for CAT?

Body

This is one debate almost every CAT aspirant faces: should I prepare alone or with a peer group?

Honestly, both have their pros and cons. A good peer group can keep you motivated, hold you accountable, and even expose you to different ways of solving the same problem. Sometimes, just knowing that others are pushing hard keeps you on track.

But the flip side is, peer groups can also become distracting. Not everyone studies at the same pace, and comparing yourself constantly can hurt your confidence. Solo prep gives you full control, you decide the pace, the strategy, and the focus areas without external noise.

At the end of the day, it really depends on your personality. If you thrive on discussions and healthy competition, a peer group can work wonders. If you prefer clarity and peace while studying, solo prep might be your thing.

The trick? Even if you prep solo, keep some form of peer interaction alive—maybe through mock discussions or doubt-solving sessions. That way, you get the best of both worlds.
