Scholarships, Financial Aid at IIM Calcutta

Body

  • To apply for scholarships / NBFA, students must submit standardized documents verifying income and background. Some specifics:

  • If your gross family income is less than โ‚น2.50 lakhs, you may need to supply income tax returns (ITR) or salary / employer certificates.

  • If your income is higher, you must supply ITR + Form 16 etc.

  • All sources of income (parents, siblings, applicant, etc.) must be declared.

Quick tip for those whose parents are self-employed: ensure the Income Certificate is issued by a Gazetted Officer or the Tehsildar as per the specific format IIMC asks for. They don't just look at the salary; they evaluate the 'gross' family income, so don't forget to include interest from FDs or rental income if it's on the ITR

This is so important for freshers to know! IIM Calcuttaโ€™s NBFA is actually quite generous, but they are very strict about the paperwork. Getting your parents' ITR and Form 16 ready well in advance is a lifesaver because the submission window is usually quite tight once you get the admission offer.
