SNAP Preparation Tips

Body

Tip 1: Don’t Stress About Attempt Count

  • SNAP doesn’t follow normalization across the 3 test slots. That means one slot could turn out tougher or easier than another, and your raw score directly decides your percentile.

  • Best approach: attempt all 3 slots and treat each as a fresh paper.

  • Avoid fixing a rigid attempt number but try not to go below 55 attempts.

If you enter the exam with a fixed attempt target, you may either under-attempt or rush. Instead, go with the flow of the paper and maximize attempts with accuracy.

Tip 2: Accuracy is King

  • Know your strengths and start with the section where you’re most comfortable.

  • If Quant takes more time, allocate at least half of the total exam time there (it has 25 questions, the maximum share).

  • Don’t skip a question just because you’re underprepared  many Quant questions are basic and solvable even with limited prep.

SNAP Quant looks intimidating at first glance, but many questions are straightforward formula-based. Even if you haven’t mastered advanced topics, attempting the simpler ones can add easy marks to your score.

Tip 3: Must-Know Topics for Quant
Focus on the following areas for solid coverage:

  • Arithmetic: Profit & Loss (complex), Compound Interest, Time-Speed-Distance, Time & Work

  • Progressions & Sequences

  • Basic Trigonometry: especially angle of elevation sums

  • Geometry: mostly formula-based (areas, volumes, circles, triangles)

  • Basic Logarithms

If you master formulas and practice standard sums in these areas, you can crack most of the section without heavy shortcuts.

Tip 4: For Verbal Ability (VA)

  • SNAP has no Reading Comprehension (RC)  which sets it apart from exams like CAT or XAT.

  • Focus is on grammar, vocabulary, and sentence-based questions.

VA is memory + concept-based, it’s a scoring section if you prepare smartly. Even 10-12 minutes of focused grammar/vocab practice daily can improve accuracy here.

SNAP is a 60-minute sprint, and the exam rewards speed, accuracy, and adaptability. Don’t go in with a rigid mindset about attempts or sections  instead, treat every slot as an opportunity to maximize your score.

  • Take all 3 attempts for better odds since percentiles vary across slots.

  • Leverage your strengths and balance your weaker areas with smart question selection.

  • Stick to basics in Quant and practice short, timed drills to improve speed.

  • Use reliable VA prep sources and revise regularly to secure easy marks.
