The "Brand" vs. The "Paycheck

Body

"Is the brand name still the ultimate safety net, or is ROI finally the only metric that matters?

We’re seeing a weird shift in the placement season this year. On one hand, you have the 'Brand Heavy' path—the prestige of an IIM Ahmedabad tag, even if it comes with the risk of being unplaced in a tough market. On the other, the 'Cash Heavy' path—a solid 25 LPA package at an IMI.

If you had to choose today: Would you trade the lifetime 'IIM-A' tag for immediate, guaranteed financial security, or is the long-term career ceiling of a top-tier brand worth the gamble of being unplaced?

You’re paying for the alumni network and the lifelong opportunities, not just the starting salary. I’d take the IIM-A tag any day. It opens doors for the next 30 years that an IMI degree simply can't reach

25 LPA is 25 LPA. In this economy, I’m taking the money. You can’t pay your bills with a 'prestige' tag, and frankly, once you have 3-5 years of experience, your skills matter more than which IIM you graduated from
