Hey guys, hope you're doing well!
Just wanted to share some practical insights that have really helped me in interviews whether it was for jobs, MBA programs, or internships. These are the top 5 most commonly asked questions, and some solid ways to approach them:
1. Introduce Yourself
This is usually the opening question, and most interviewers use it to buy time. Instead of repeating your CV, use this as a chance to tell an interesting story. For example, I once spoke about helping my uncle scale his small business, which led to a great conversation and follow-up questions.
2. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Avoid generic answers. Instead, give short, real-life examples. For instance, I said Iโm courageous and shared how I battled mental health issues and came back stronger ย that made the answer feel real.
3. Tell us something thatโs not in your CV
They want to see the person behind the resume. Share a personal story or a defining moment that reflects your values or personality. This is your chance to be memorable.
4. Why should we choose you over others?
The trick here is to be humble. Acknowledge that every candidate brings something valuable, then talk about what makes you a unique fit ย whether itโs your past experiences, mindset, or how you align with their goals.
5. Why do you want to join this company/college?
This is about them, not you. Research what makes them special ย faculty, placements, culture, events and talk about what excites you and why it aligns with your goals.
Hope this helps someone out there! If these ideas resonate or youโve used something similar that worked, would love to hear your thoughts. Best of luck to everyone preparing!
