How to prepare for SNAP on my own?

Body

Hi folks, I am planning to appear for the SNAP exam and I am preparing on my own. Can someone guide me on how to go about it effectively? What should be my strategy, what resources to use, and how to manage time? Would love to hear from others who are self preparing too

I started 3 months before the SNAP exam with a goal to study 2-3 hours daily. I made a weekly plan to cover all topics in Quant and Logical Reasoning. GK was not part of SNAP, so I did not waste time on it. The key is to master speed and accuracy, especially because you get only 60 minutes. I used the SNAP official mock and past-year papers to strategize.

Self prep for SNAP was doable because the syllabus isn’t too broad. I focused only on what SNAP actually tests, LR, Quant, and Verbal. I set a routine of doing 1 LR set, 5 quant questions, and 1 RC every day starting July. By September, I shifted to full length mocks. I also created a shortcut formula sheet for quick revision. You don’t need coaching, just discipline, the right material, and lots of mock practice. Make sure to analyze every mock attempt to avoid repeating mistakes.

I divided the prep into two phases, Phase 1 (concept building) for 1 month, and Phase 2 (mock tests + revision) for 1 month. I used Arun Sharma’s Quant book selectively (only Arithmetic + Numbers) and for LR, I just practiced daily from previous SNAP-type questions. For English, I read articles from The Hindu and solved vocab flashcards. The best thing I did was give the Real CAT mock by CATKing and replicate the exact strategy during the real exam.Prepared CAT level difficulty and cracked SNAP easily. Keep it simple, stay fast, and do not panic.

Managing time with a job was tough, so I made a weekly plan with limited, high-yield targets. I studied 2 hours daily after work. I used CATKing videos and classes for Logical Reasoning and Handwritten PDFs for quant formulas. SNAP does not need CAT-level prep, so I did not overcomplicate things. My LR and Verbal were decent, but Quant needed revision. I focused on Arithmetic and Data Interpretation. I took 6 SNAP mocks from Cracku and Oliveboard. My score improved when I stopped chasing all questions and focused on accuracy. On D-day, I attempted 50 with 90% accuracy and cleared SIBM Pune.

I prepared for SNAP alongside college. The key was focusing on speed and accuracy. Since SNAP is just 60 minutes, I did one thing religiously, daily timed practice. I started with one mock every 3 days and analyzed it thoroughly. For Quant, I focused on Arithmetic topics, Percentages, Ratios, SI-CI. I didn’t waste time on tough topics like PnC or Complex Numbers. For LR, I practiced puzzles, series, and seating arrangements from past SNAP papers and books like RS Aggarwal. Verbal was my strong area so I revised vocabulary daily using Word Power Made Easy. Trust me, SNAP is about smart selection of questions and not solving everything.
