IIM Ranchi 2024-26 Placements: Is the "New IIM" tag finally catching up to the legacy brands?

Body

The IIM Ranchi placement figures for the 2024-26 batch just dropped, and there’s a lot to unpack beyond the headline numbers. While a ₹19.24 LPA average for the core MBA program is solid, the real story lies in the specialized cohorts. Interestingly, the MBA-Business Analytics (BA) wing is actually outperforming the core program with an average of ₹20.99 LPA, signaling a massive corporate appetite for data-driven roles.

But here’s a thought that crossed my mind while looking at these stats: we spend so much time debating these decimal points and "Average CTCs" as if they are the ultimate truth. We see the ₹52.50 LPA highest package and treat it like a goal, but we often forget the "guts" it takes to be in that top bracket. Every one of these placements represents a student who had to survive the daily grind of case comps and "incubation" thoughts to actually deliver value to a recruiter.

In a market where everyone is talking about "pedigree vs. skills," Ranchi’s Business Analytics numbers suggest that specialized skills are becoming the new pedigree. We’re moving toward a reality where your ability to handle "pixels" (data) might be more valuable than the age of the campus you graduated from. Are we finally seeing the mid-tier IIMs bridge the gap, or is the market just rewarding technical specialization?

s it just me, or does the 'Avg. PPO CTC' being almost identical to the 'Average CTC' suggest that the final placement market was just as tough as the summer internship conversion rate? The grind is real

The 52.5 LPA high is great for the broc*ure, but I’d love to see the median. Usually, in this market, the median tells a much more 'human' story than an average skewed by a few international or outlier offers

Look at that MBA-BA average (20.99L) vs Core (19.24L). It’s official: companies are willing to pay a premium for analytics over general management now. Definitely a trend to watch for future aspirants
