GD Topic: One Pager Case. Hospital chain planning to expand out of Tier 1 Cities (EBIDTA 18%) to Tier 3 Cities (EBIDTA 10-12%). Should they expand or consolidate in Tier 1

Summary: Last guy in the panel, interview went well. Two male panelists

M1: Introduce yourself

Me: Prepared Answer (gave lots of breadcrumbs on internships)

M1: Okay, tell me about your internship in Toyota...what was it about?

Me: Outlined 3 objectives

M1: How much of it were you able to accomplish? What was the problem?

Me: Talked about the issue in depth and why it existed

M1: What was your favourite subject?

Me: Economics

M1: Okay, so let's you are an adviser to Mrs Sitharaman...how would you advise her on the Current Account Deficit?

Me: Two main points --> 1) Ease FDI rules 2) Urge ministries to lessen compliance costs

M1: Don't you think, these are more long term? How would these help with exports?

Me: Lesser compliance for example MSMEs (higher caps), help them become more financially efficient... ultimately global competitiveness. Moreover, talked a bit about frontloading FTAs

M1: What does frontloading here mean?

Me: Accelerating pace to of FTAs like in the case of EUFTA, would help companies compete globally

M1: isn't the EUFTA already done?

Me: Yes certainly sir, I was talking about the ones currently in the pipeline

M1: Can you think of any other way?

Me: I can't sir at the moment

M1: Okay, how about a numerical?

Me: Sure sir!

M1: Estimate the number of white taxis in Delhi

Me: Can I ask for clarifications sir?

M1: Go ahead

Me: Are we talking exclusively about 4 wheelers or are 3 wheelers included as well?

M1: Only 4 Wheelers

Me: Okay Sir, can I take a minute?

M1: Sure!

Me: Sketched out a few things starting with the population of Delhi and working my way down through MECE. Explained once I was done.

M2: (before I was almost done) Ok that's fine..

M2: Since you said Eco, how does Swachh Bharath help in economic development

Me: In the short term, it doesn't...talked about long term benefits in terms of soft power, HDI etc

M2: Okay, now what about the Jal Shakti Mission?

Me: Talked about health outcomes, and access to clean water leads to lesser disease and a more productive and healthier population (Labour Force Participation etc etc)

M1: Okay, can you name other favourite subjects?

Me: Marketing, Financial Markets...

M2: Okay, so what is exit load?

Me:ย answered

M2: How is it calculated?

Me:ย answered

M2: What is expense ratio?

Me:ย answered

M2: So you're in 3rd year?

Me: No Sir, I graduated last year...

M2: What have you been doing since then?

Me: CAT, XAT and giving interviews currently sir..

    This is such a clean transcript that transition from the Toyota internship to advising the Finance Minister is classic IIM Shillong. They love seeing if a candidate can connect their 'favorite subject' to real-world policy. Solid job on handling the CAD question with specific points like compliance costs
