I completed my B.Com in 2023 and then prepared for CAT, but I didn’t make it. After that, my family pushed me to take admission in a local MBA college. I joined it mostly just to pass time, while also actively contributing to my family business.
Honestly, I wasn’t serious about that MBA at all. My plan was to build work experience through the business and, if I didn’t clear the MBA, I could justify a gap year and reattempt CAT with a stronger profile.
But things didn’t go as planned I actually passed the MBA.
Now I’m confused and a bit stuck. My main question is: is it possible to hide my MBA degree while applying for CAT again or during IIM/IIFT admissions? Will they be able to find out that I’ve already completed an MBA if I don’t mention it?
I’m trying to understand the risks and whether this could create problems later in admissions or placements. Any guidance would really help.

ts better to be honest, because there are many people who do take admission in tier 2-3 college and then study side-by-side and get into tier 1’s thus making their degree more sound. If they ask explain, that I didn’t want to waste an year, what matter to me is better people and culture which lacked in the college I was admitted to.

If your old college has done the abc id thing, then you're cooked, they can check all of your educational records, but if they haven't, then you might be able to fake it, but just as a general rule of thumb, do not lie about something this significant, because if you get caught, then yeah, it's not a good look for you, and honestly it's not even that bad, people do double MBAs, it's a bit strange, but it's not a deal breaker in any capacity if that's what you're concerned about

Nothing goes of a waste. These are the rare cases. You can justify with a lot many reasons. It is even much better. Only thing is u need to be comfortable with 1 or 2 of the MBA subjects with worldly examples and current affairs in that subject. Mind you, the interview will be like a fire. But, if u withstand, it'll be a definite through into the IIM gates.
