It’s actually a very balanced move. By keeping the 10th/12th weightage only for the initial call (Stage 1) and removing it for the final seat (Stage 2), MDI ensures the batch has a basic academic foundation but wins its seat based on current merit. It’s the perfect middle ground for engineers and non-engineers alike to compete on a level playing field

Wait, has everyone noticed the new 5% Behavioural Assessment Test (BAT) in Stage 2? MDI is really leaning into 'personality fit' this year. Between the BAT, Group Exercise, and PI, they are basically saying: 'We know you're smart (CAT), but are you a leader?' It's a very SPJIMR-style shift towards holistic evaluation

Don't let the 70% weightage fool you into thinking it's 'only' about the CAT. Because MDI has no sectional cutoffs, it's a haven for people who are exceptionally strong in one area (like QA) but barely touch the 80th percentile in another (like VARC). This 70% weightage means if you can push for a 99+ overall, your profile gaps almost disappear.

MDI Gurgaon officially dropping 10th and 12th marks from the final merit list is a game-changer! 🤯 For everyone like me whose 10th/12th scores are 'worse than 8/8/8,' this is probably the best chance at a Tier-1 convert. It’s about time B-schools stopped judging a 23-year-old by what they did when they were 15
