Should I attempt multiple MBA exams or just focus on CAT?

Body

Hey there, I am preparing for a master's degree in business administration and this id my first attempt. I feel really overwhelmed hence I wanted to know if sticking to one course's preparation will suffice or will I have to prepare for the others too? Anybody please help.

Write CAT, XAT, SNAP, NMAT. These give access to IIMs, XLRI, NMIMS, SIBM. Each has different GK, format, or question style. Use mocks to adapt to each. It increases your odds massively. The effort to prep for all is not double. Once you’re 80% done for CAT, only minor tweaks are needed. NMAT scheduling is flexible. XAT decision-making can be prepped in a week. Worth the effort if you're serious.

If you start early, prepare for CAT and take others as backups. XAT prep overlaps heavily with CAT. NMAT needs speed and less deep concepts. You just need to fine-tune strategy, not start from scratch.

  • I focused only on CAT and missed out when I underperformed. Now I tell everyone, apply to multiple exams. XAT and SNAP give top-tier B-schools and have a different selection style.

  • Yes, attempt at least 2–3 exams. CAT is unpredictable. XAT, NMAT, and SNAP offer more chances. I didn’t get a good CAT score but cracked NMAT and joined NMIMS. Don’t put all eggs in one basket.
