Summer Internships (Batch 2024-26) Breakdown: Premium Roles vs. Average Realities across Top B-Schools

Body

A side-by-side look at how the country's top-tier institutions performed during the latest summer internship placement drive for the Batch of 2024–26. While high-paying marquee roles continue to pull up the averages, the data shows a clear distinction between legacy domains and general leadership tracks.

  • The Finance Premium: IIM Calcutta continues to leverage its status as India's premier finance campus, capturing the highest domestic bracket via top-tier Investment Banking and Private Equity desks.

  • Consulting & Competitiveness: IIM Bangalore and IIM Lucknow maintain massive cohorts targeting global management consulting firms, where stipend tiers remain strictly standardized.

  • Niche Strength: XLRI and SPJIMR show exceptional resilience, proving that specialized core tracks (HRM/BFSI/Product) can easily run neck-and-neck with the top three IIMs.

SPJIMR quietly putting up numbers that compete directly with the old ABC tier is incredible. Their smaller batch size and structured sector-mapping genuinely pay off during market crunches.

Look at FMS Delhi. An average stipend of 2.68 Lakh for 2 months might look slightly lower on this list, but when you factor in their virtually non-existent tuition fees compared to the massive setups at IIMB or IIMC, their return on investment (ROI) remains absolutely unbeatable. Plus, their hold over prime FMCG corporate leadership tracks is legendary.

Joka proving once again why it's called the finance capital of Indian b-schools. A 9 Lakh stipend for two months basically means a global investment bank or a boutique PE firm came in with a specialized desk structure. For aspirants eyeing core finance, the gap between C and almost everywhere else (except maybe select elite cohorts at A/B) remains distinct when it comes to front-end niche roles.

Keep in mind that the highest stipends are usually highly skewed by a handful of front-end IB or global hedge fund offers. Don't go in expecting the average to be a walk in the park; the median is where the real campus reality lies.
