Over the last few years, a few IIMs IIM Udaipur, IIM Raipur, and IIM Sambalpur have chosen to opt out of the IIM Common Admission Process (CAP). The decision allows these institutes to have more control over their admissions process and tailor their selection criteria to better align with their institutional priorities.

The CAP process was designed to streamline the personal interview (PI) and written ability test (WAT) for MBA aspirants applying to newer IIMs. Candidates with a valid CAT score who meet the cutoff criteria could previously attend a single CAP interview round instead of appearing separately for each IIM.

With these changes in 2025, aspirants should be aware that IIM Udaipur, IIM Raipur, and IIM Sambalpur will conduct independent selection processes. This move may influence preparation strategies, interview scheduling, and application planning for candidates targeting these institutes.
