What is a good percentile to get XLRI BM or HRM for a non-engineer/female candidate?

Body

Hey, i am a 24 year old female, non -engineer and I really want to opt for XAT. Are there possibilities for me to crack it or is it just wishful thinking? Can someone help me decide?Any suggestions will be helpful.

I’m a working professional (3 years in HR Ops), non-engineer female. I scored 89.5 percentile in XAT 2022, and got shortlisted for HRM. I was told during the interview that my profile made me a good fit. From what I saw, the cutoffs are lowered for diversity categories like non-engineers and women in HRM.But again, profile and interview matter A LOT in HRM. One of my batchmates got 93 percentile but wasn’t selected due to average answers and lack of clarity in her interview. For BM, even being a woman doesn’t help much unless you're hitting 96+. BM is more quant-focused, so they don’t lower it much for academic or gender diversity.

I converted XLRI HRM in 2023 with a 91.3 percentile, and yes, I’m a non-engineer female from commerce background. I didn’t apply for BM since I knew I wouldn’t hit 95+. From seniors and peers, the safe score for HRM for someone like me is 90+.XLRI really values diversity in HRM, they want people from varied academic backgrounds for HR. So if your interview performance is strong, and you have relevant experience or strong academics, you can convert even at low 90s.Just don’t ignore the Decision-Making and GK sections, as they form an important part of the overall shortlisting criteria.

I gave XAT in 2022 and scored 89.7 percentile, got shortlisted for HRM, not BM. I’m from a Psychology background. From what I gathered on forums and Telegram groups, HRM cutoffs for non-engineer females have hovered between 88-91 percentiles in recent years. But do note, if you have low academics or weak extra-curriculars, even clearing the cutoff won’t guarantee final selection. HRM interviews can be very profile-heavy, especially for non-engineers.For BM, the general cutoff stays in the 95-96+ range, and they don’t really relax it much for gender or academic diversity.

I’m a non-engineer female with a 92 percentile in XAT 2023, and I got a call for HRM but not for BM. From what I’ve seen, for HRM, non-engineer + female candidates have an edge due to XLRI’s diversity emphasis. A 90–92+ percentile is generally enough for HRM (sometimes even high 80s with strong academics). For BM, the cutoff is higher, it’s more competitive, and diversity doesn’t play as big a role. You’ll typically need a 96+ percentile, even as a non-engineer female. So while diversity helps, it doesn’t pull down the BM cutoff too much. Pro tip: Don’t just aim for the cutoff, make sure your GK score is decent and that your profile is solid for the interview too!
