How difficult is the SNAP exam?

Body

Hey guys, I am planning to appear for the SNAP exam this year and I wanted to know how difficult is SNAP really?

Is it tougher than CAT or XAT? Or is it more about speed and strategy? Would love to hear from anyone who has already taken it  what was your experience like? Any insights on the difficulty level, especially the Quant and LR sections, would be super helpful.

SNAP is definitely more about smart preparation than deep concepts. I would not call it easy, but it’s more predictable compared to XAT or CAT. If you are someone who is good at rapid solving and doesn’t overthink, this is the exam for you. Just keep practicing time-bound mock tests and revise formulas and vocab regularly. It’s a speed game, train yourself like you are going into a 60-minute battlefield.

As someone who cracked SNAP and got into SIBM Pune, I would say do not underestimate the exam. Many people make the mistake of preparing like they do for CAT, but SNAP requires a different approach. Focus more on mock tests with strict time limits. The pressure of 1-minute-per-question can get to you. But if you can stay cool and have practiced enough mocks, you’ll find the exam manageable.

I found SNAP to be tricky in its own way. The English section had a lot of vocabulary-based questions, so if you are someone who struggles with vocab, it can feel tough. Also, the GK section (when it was there in earlier years) made it unpredictable. Now with only Quant, English, and LR, it is more streamlined, but you need to be well-practiced in shortcuts and time-saving techniques. It’s easier than CAT but not a cakewalk in any way.

I gave both SNAP and CAT last year. Trust me, SNAP felt like a sprint! It’s more about strategy and accuracy under pressure. The Logical Reasoning section is unique and can catch you off-guard if you have not practiced SNAP-specific LR. In terms of difficulty level, I’d rate it lower than CAT, but it demands a different kind of preparation. If you are quick with basic math and can stay calm under pressure, you’ll do well.

SNAP is not as conceptually tough as CAT or XAT, but the challenge lies in the speed. You get only 60 minutes for 60 questions, which means you have to be really quick with your calculations and decision-making. The questions aren't very tricky, but if you aren’t fast enough, you might miss out on easy marks. So I’d say it’s moderately difficult, not because of the depth, but because of the time crunch.
