How many mocks do I give and how can I analyze them properly?

Body

Is giving 1 mock every week enough in the beginning? When should I switch to 2-3 mocks per week? How much time should I spend analyzing each section?Should I focus on percentile or accuracy in mocks?

In the beginning, I gave 1 mock per week and spent 2-3 days analyzing it thoroughly. That's enough early on because your goal is to build strategy and awareness, not chase percentiles. When I say analyze, I mean going back to every question: โ€˜Why was this right? Why was this wrong? What was I thinking when I chose that option?โ€™ Also, I tracked my accuracy by section, especially in VARC and DILR. Once I was more confident with my basics, I increased to 2-3 mocks per week. In the final phase, I did 1 mock every 2 days, but only if I had the time to analyze it properly.ย

Giving more mocks only makes sense if you're analyzing them well. I made the mistake of giving 2โ€“3 mocks/week in June itself, but my scores didn't improve because I wasn't learning from them. Now, I take one mock over the weekend, and then break down my analysis like this, for VARC, time spent per passage, accuracy, why I picked wrong options. For DILR which sets I tried, were they worth it, did I interpret the data correctly. For QA, silly mistakes, missed shortcuts, formula recall. This process takes about 4-5 hours, but itโ€™s worth it. I track accuracy first, then look at percentile to gauge where I stand.ย

Mocks are like diagnostic tools, theyโ€™re only useful if you treat what they reveal. I gave 1 mock/week, then 2/week. Then I took 3/week, but started alternating between full mocks and sectional tests. For analysis QA i wrote down every silly mistake and made a 'revision bank', for DILR I noted set selection errors (choosing tough ones first),for VARC I wrote why I got confused between two close options.ย

Early on, I ignored percentiles and tracked section-wise accuracy instead.

I'd say in the initial 2-3 months, 1 mock/week is ideal. It gives you enough time to prepare between mocks and understand what's going wrong.Once you've covered major topics, go for 2 mocks/week. Later increase to 3. But always prioritize quality over quantity. For analysis, I spend 1-2 hours per section. I also maintain an Excel sheet to log question types I got wrong (like RC inference, arithmetic, Venn diagrams). Also, don't stress over percentile early on-focus on improving your raw scores and accuracy.
