Real CAT Mock 9 Discussion

Body

Just solved mock 9 and found it really tough. What were you people's experience when solving it?

  • I think the key is to identify and solve the must-solve questions first, there were only 19 across all sections. Spent too much time on questions I shouldn't have attempted.

I liked the diversity in topics, especially the wildfire and AI passage. It made the test feel relevant to real-world scenarios.

This paper rewarded smart planning. Prioritizing summaries and easy RCs in VARC, then shifting to FMCG and cube in DILR helped me attempt 50% questions with accuracy.

Even though the Aristotle RC was tough, I appreciated how intellectually rewarding it felt. It pushed me to think differently.

DILR felt really draining. Only one set felt truly manageable, and I ended up misreading a condition in the binary logic set. Even though the mock was moderate overall, it did not feel like a real CAT pattern to me, too many abstract or dense questions back to back.

Some of the grid-based logic sets were just too twisted. I wasted 12 minutes on one and couldn’t even finish half. Geometry was brutal in this mock. I regret attempting one of those questions, it completely messed up my time management.

The Smoking passage was unnecessarily dense. Even with good comprehension, the regulatory terms made it a tough read.

Para-jumbles felt vague and confusing this time. I couldn’t figure out the flow even after rereading. Probably my weakest section in this mock.

I used to be scared of Modern Math, but surprisingly found one of the questions quite straightforward. Nice mix of difficulty here.

The FMCG ranking set was challenging but logical. Once I cracked the pattern, it felt really satisfying. Good mental workout.

The cube set was fun to solve! It took some visualisation, but once I got it, the entire set fell into place. Really liked that one.

I found the Edith RC really engaging. The structure was so well-laid out that I did not even realize I had read over 500 words. Questions were doable if you paid attention.

Mock 9's quant section was a confidence booster though. I could spot 5-6 sitters right away, especially in Arithmetic. Great for building early momentum.
