The academic rigor here is often described as 'intense.' How many people in your batch are successfully balancing a side hustle or personal projects with the interdisciplinary workload, or is the curriculum designed to take up 100% of your headspace?

Yes the academic rigour is comparatively decent but it's not that hectic after first semester. Lot of people do manage their personal projects and family businesses along with it. Although MBA students are often expected to be highly productive anyway.

Ahmedabad University has a strong reputation in Gujarat, but how does the brand hold up when you’re applying for roles in Mumbai, Bangalore, or Gurgaon? Do you feel you have to 'over-explain' the university’s unique pedagogy to national recruiters, or does the interdisciplinary tag actually open doors?

The only interview I had until now was with an American company with an office in GIFT city SEZ for my internship. The conversation mostly revolved around my own competencies. Interdisciplinary learning is important to create connections and implement high level strategies. Ultimately you should be able to communicate this level of systems thinking and building.

Beyond the official placement reports, how active is the Career Development Centre in helping students pivot into niche industries, and what is the 'unspoken' reality of the internship hunt in the city?

CDC will bring a lot of opportunities for internships and placements. They are active and are expected to recieve more investment in next batch. Getting internships without the help of CDC can be tougher. Students getting independent Internships in MNCs isn't common but the large companies situated in the city offer opportunities.

Looking back at your own interview and application process, what is the one 'soft skill' or trait you think the admissions committee values more than just a high test score?

From what I have noticed they like people who can speak about a topic very deeply and clearly. Also if you make a claim you should be able to provide justifications. Good language skills and theoretical thinking certainly helps.

For someone coming from a completely different city, how easy or difficult is it to adjust socially at Ahmedabad University? Is the student culture welcoming for introverts and new people?

The university itself is diverse and have students from all states. The faculty is even more diverse. It's  a very open environment. You can be yourself in the university.

Placement-wise, which roles or sectors have been growing the most for students recently? Are students getting opportunities beyond the traditional marketing and sales roles?

Yes, students are increasingly getting opportunities aligned with their areas of interest and specialization, beyond the traditional marketing and sales roles. Many students have secured internships and placements in areas like digital marketing, including SEO and social media marketing, reflecting the growing diversity of roles being offered across industries.

A lot of colleges talk about “industry exposure” in broc*ures. What are some actual opportunities at Ahmedabad University where students got to work with companies, startups, or real projects?

In our MBA program, the industry exposure is part of the curriculum and is required to complete the MBA. The most important project is route camp. It is a project which lasts several months where groups from our MBA batch take up projects from various companies to solve their problems. It gives real exposure to problem solving, communication, strategy and field work in a real business.

I have a gap in my profile and sometimes feel anxious about placements because of it. From what you’ve seen on campus, how much do companies actually focus on gaps versus skills and internships?

I have some gaps in my profile, no one has really asked about it yet. As long as your communication, skill and experience is good, it won't be a problem.
