How many hour per day are required to prepare for CAT exam ?

Body

I am planning to appear for CAT 2025, and less than 4 months are remaining !!  I want to know how many hours per day would be required to get 95%tile and above. I also so full time Job remotely. I can usually spare time in the early morning and after 7:00pm. As the exam gets closer I'll be planning to take leaving from work to fully focus on the exam preparation.

Think of it this way, suppose you are planning to score a 70%ile in CAT 2025 which isn't a difficult target at all, how many hours you'll study per day ? let's say you studied for 2 hours straight and the fatigue creeps in, you'll tell yourselve that its good enough for 70%ile. so you found a way to quantify your effort to an equivalent result.

Now, try to qauntify it for 95%ile, or 99%ile, or 99.99%ile. The point I am trying to make over here is if you want the maximum result, you need to give maximum input, becuase you'll never know how many hours you'll need to input in order to be in top 1%ile.

So rather than thinking about the number of hours to up in, think about how you can make the journey interesting and how you can acheive the right flow were the challenge is eqivalent to your ability.

Since I work, I only manage to get almost 3 hrs everyday. I know it's less but I have no other way.

I don’t count hours, I just do one mock + full analysis once a week (takes 5–6 hours on that day) and on other days, I spend 2 hours revising concepts and practising. Hours don’t matter if your practice is targeted.

Right now, with 8 months left, I’m doing 2 hours a day. From August, I have moved to 4–5 hours, and in the last month before CAT, I’ll push to 6+ hours. No point burning out early.

I study 2 to 3 hours daily, but I make sure it’s distraction-free and focused on weak areas. You can sit for 8 hours and still learn nothing if you’re just scrolling Instagram in between.
