I used to read the entire RC and get lost trying to remember details. What changed things for me was using a 'question-first' approach and tracking keywords, I now quickly skim the passage, get the gist, and when I read questions, I highlight keywords like names, years, adjectives, and match them back to the passage. Then I eliminate options by focusing on scope and extremity, anything too absolute or emotional gets a second look.Over time, I learned that most wrong options are wrong because of one word, not the whole sentence. 

I was stuck at 50-55% accuracy in VARC for months despite reading The Hindu and editorials daily. I thought I had a reading problem, but the real issue was how I was approaching the questions.What helped me most was analyzing the RCs after each mock or sectional, I noted which options I eliminated and why.Then I checked the official explanation or trusted mentors' breakdowns.I realized I was often eliminating correct options due to overthinking tone or style, not substance.

My biggest breakthrough came when someone told me 'You don’t have a comprehension issue; you have a retention issue.' I was reading editorials and finishing RCs but couldn’t recall anything properly while answering. So I changed how I read, I started summarizing each paragraph in 5 words mentally. I paused after every RC and asked: ‘What was the main idea? What’s the author’s opinion?’
