  • I had 8/8/7 profile, got 99.5 CAT, got A and B calls, but no C. FMS called. XLRI is more percentile-based and doesn’t look too hard at academics. Always check institute-specific shortlisting criteria. If you're aiming for SPJIMR or MDI, 95–96 percentile is enough, but profile matters. For IIFT, aim for 98+, and for NMIMS Mumbai, 235+ in NMAT is a safe score. Convert percentiles to realistic goals per exam.

  • IIMs use composite scores post-CAT. Even 99.7 might not get an A call if you have average work-ex or poor acads. But convert rates improve with better interview prep. Don’t stress only on CAT score, focus on holistic profile.

For IIM A/B/C as a general male engineer, aim for 99.6+ with strong academics (preferably 9/9/9 profile). XLRI BM needs 96+ in XAT, HRM slightly lower. FMS generally calls above 98.5+ CAT with good score weightage. IIMs have varied selection criteria. Even 99.9 won’t guarantee an IIM A call if your 10th/12th are low. Non-engineers and females often get diversity advantage, so 97–98 can be enough for old IIMs.
