The IIMs are quietly playing in the big league

Body

When you look at where McKinsey hires from, you’ll see the usual names - Harvard, INSEAD, Wharton and then you notice IIM Ahmedabad, Calcutta, and Bangalore right there in the mix.

No fancy campuses or global marketing.
Just strong training, tough competition, and students who know how to get the job done.

What stands out:

  • IIM Ahmedabad is right next to ISB and Darden.

  • IIM Calcutta and Bangalore are above schools like HEC Paris and IMD.

  • Indian MBAs are building a real presence in global consulting.

It’s a small reminder you don’t need an international tag to prove capability.

What really stands out here is how consistently the older IIMs show up in global consulting pipelines. It says a lot about the kind of analytical training and peer competition students go through. Even without the global branding machinery that many Western schools have, the outcomes still speak for themselves.
